Edna Stribling - September 24, 2012

Edna Anna Juilfs, one of ten children of John and Maria (Oetken) Juilfs, was born and raised in the Talmage, Nebraska community. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Talmage, and attended Oak Hill School and Talmage High School.
In 1938, Edna was married to Harvey Petersen. Three children were born to this union: Val, Harvine, and Terry, and one child, Janet Kay, was adopted. She married Stephen Stribling in 1957, and a son Jamie was born. Jamie preceded Edna in death.
In 1969, Edna moved to Auburn, Nebraska, where she worked at WoodCarv Cabinets, Ruby Hoover’s nursing home, and for the State of Nebraska as a caregiver for the elderly.
Edna was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Auburn and Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Nebraska City. In her younger years, she loved fishing, dancing, and was quite the shuffleboard player. After retiring she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and word searches, bird watching, garages sales, and spending time with her family and friends, as well as a few Busch Lights.
Edna passed away at her home in Auburn on Monday, September 24, 2012. In addition to her son Jamie and her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Leonard, Carl, Ervin, Joy, and Willie, and sisters Della Viox Crowder, Lettie Juilfs, Rosalind Kramer, and Irene Juilfs.
She is survived by her children and their spouses Val and Theresa Petersen of Palmyra; Harvine Kirchhoff of Lincoln; Janet Page of Hutchison, Kansas; Terry and Pat Petersen of Dunbar; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday September 28, 2012 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Frank Zimmerman. Special pre-recorded music was played.
Pallbearers were grandsons Zachary Stribling, Brian Petersen, Douglas Page, Michael Kirchhoff, Kurt Kirchhoff, Rick Kirchhoff, and Jeff Petersen. Grandchildren Bonnie Hignite, Carrie Caulkens, Chelsy Hale, Kimberly Manley, Verna Kay Page, Jason Petersen, and Ryan Petersen served as honorary pallbearers.
Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery near Talmage.
Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
