Early Fall Weather Favorable for Harvest Activity in Nemaha County
Nemaha County producers are getting a good start on the fall harvest, said Gary Lesoing, University of Nebraska-Lincoln extension educator.

“The weather has been ideal for harvesting,” he said.
Lesoing said that while crop yields may be variable, he has heard of some good to excellent yields. Corn yields should be good, especially if the corn pollinated before the summer heat. Hot weather stresses the crop which could reduce yields, he said. Some farmers are waiting to harvest corn until the moisture level dries down, Lesoing said. Some areas of the county received good rains during August, which will help with soybean yields, he said.
Lesoing said that he had not talked to anyone, so he had no exact figures on crop yields. Quite a few beans are being harvested, he said.
