The Auburn Board of Public Works (BPW) Tuesday, Aug. 18, voted to decommission a well three miles east of Auburn near the airport. General Manager Dave Hunter was authorized to obtain information on the cost of a new well. The well, which was drilled in 1989, is one of the utility’s worst performing wells because of poor water quality and sulfur odor. It is BPW’s second most recently drilled well, and has a current flow is 100 gallons per minute.
