The Board of Education of School District #29 of Nemaha County met on August 15, 2011 at the Auburn Public Schools, Central Office for the purpose of conducting the regular board meeting.    Notice of the meeting was duly published in the Auburn Newspapers.
President Stephen Kennedy called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.  Roll call of members present were: Kennedy, Billesbach, Hemmingsen and Kernes Krause. Zaruba and Oestmann were absent.
Motion by Billesbach and second by Kernes Krause to approve the consent agenda that includes the minutes of the 7-18-11 regular meeting, 7-18-11 special hearings and 8-2-11 special meeting.  Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Visitors included: Wayne Chase, David Swanson, Teresa Hahn, Amy Kroll, Brent Comstock and the Administrators.
Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Billesbach that the Board approve the monthly claims in all funds as presented.   Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.

Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Billesbach that the Board approve the Agreement with NASB to join the Medicaid Consortium as presented. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Kernes Kruase and second by Hemmingsen that the Board approve the creation of a petty cash fund with a $3000 limit for the district. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Hemmingsen that the Board approve terminating our contract with Prosser & Campbell, PC as our auditor for this year. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Hemmingsen that the Board approve signing a contract with Julie D. Bauman, CPA, PC as our auditor for this year. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Billesbach that the Board approve the Interlocal Cooperative Agreement for Technology Consortium with ESU 4 as presented. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Hemmingsen and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve the purchase of a 2008 47-passenger bus from American Bus Sales for $63,900. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Hemmingsen and second by Billesbach that the Board approve the listing agreement with American Dream Realty to sell the Alternative Education building as presented. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Hemmingsen and second by Billesbach that the Board approve the purchase and installation of a phone system for the central office for $15,576. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (no), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 3-1.
Motion by Billesbach and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve revised policy P4154-Absence in Excess of Leave as presented. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Billesbach and second by Hemmingsen that the Board approve revised policy P4231-Extended Substitutions as presented.  Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Billesbach and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve deleting policy P4244.2-Pictures.  Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Billesbach to enter closed session at 6:10 p.m. to discuss personnel for the protection of the employees’ reputation. Roll call vote: Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
The Board left closed session at 6:19 p.m.
President Stephen Kennedy adjourned the meeting at 6:19 p.m.
The next regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education will be held on September 12, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Auburn Public Schools Central Office, 1713 J St., Auburn, NE. The agenda for the regular school board meeting shall be kept continuously current and shall be readily available for public inspection at the superintendent’s office during normal business hours.  All items on the board agenda are subject to discussion and/or board action.  The board may enter closed session regarding any item on the agenda, which is permitted by Nebraska Statute.

PUBLIC NOTICE
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
The City of Auburn is requesting proposals for the solid waste/recycling collection service for the City of Auburn.  The effective date of such service will be October 1, 2011.  
A pre-bid conference shall be held on Monday, August 29th at 8:00 a.m at City Hall, 1101 “J” Street.   
Bids may be filed with the City of Auburn at `1101 “J” Street, Auburn, Nebraska until September 19, 2011 by 12:00 o’clock Noon, at which time the bids will be opened and read.  Bids will be considered by the Mayor and City Council at their September 26, 2011 meeting.
The City reserves the right to waive any irregularities in such bids.  The City reserves the right to reject any or all such bids.
