Labor Day Weekend Activities at Indian Cave State Park
Many activities are planned for the Labor Day weekend at Indian Cave State Park. The park is two miles north and five miles east of Shubert.

There will be guided horse trail rides and living history demonstrations. you will be able to see demonstrators dipping candles and making Granny’s lye soap in the village of St. Deroin. A broommaker will be in the old general store making corn brooms. There will also be a blacksmith showing the art of blacksmithing.
The museum is open all weekend. You will be able to see displays of the park’s history there. Many artifacts are displayed for viewing. Children can enjoy making crafts at the museum from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A scavenger hunt can be enjoyed by the young and the young at heart. Woodcarvers from Glenwood, Iowa, will set up shop at the museum and demonstrate their craft.
Saturday evening, Sept. 3, from 6-7 p.m. there will be a buffalo cookout. It will include a grilled buffalo burger, baked beans, chips, corn on the cob, strawberry shortcake and a beverage. You will be able to enjoy musical entertainment during your meal. Reservations may be made by calling the park office at 402-883-2575.
Pioneer Longrifle Gun Club members will have their rendezvous Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 3-4, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Sept. 3 finale is an aerial fireworks display at 9 p.m. or shortly thereafter.
