Numerous students and parents expressed gratitude for the opportunity for the students to represent Johnson-Brock at the National History Day competition in College Park, Maryland in June.
The Principal’s written report included information regarding projected student enrollment for 2011-2012, listings of Mudecas Association and Pioneer Conference events and dates for the new school year, a report of sessions attended at Administrator Days, and a report that Johnson-Brock has received NSAA recognition for the past year for not having any ejections from athletic activities.
The Superintendent’s Report included information on summer maintenance projects, as well as enrollment option lists for students both opting into and from Johnson-Brock. An NCSA report of special education expenditures and funding sources was reviewed. Mr. Koehler recommended reserving three or four parking spaces immediately in front of the main entrance for visitors, which would also enable buses to unload with students having a clear path across the parking area. The need for the interlocal agreement with Sterling for Spanish instruction was discussed, and invoices from Sterling for the 2011-2012 spanish instruction and from Johnson County Central for the 2010-2011 FFA instruction were discussed. Mr. Koehler noted that only one bread bid had been returned. Area school substitute teacher pay rates were reviewed. Mr. Koehler reviewed the proposed budget for 2011-2012, noting that the tax levy will likely remain the same. Final figures will not be available until after August 20 when property valuations are due from the county assessors.
Moved by Arlen Grotrian to approve renewing the Interlocal Agreement with Sterling Public Schools for Spanish instruction for the 2011-2012 school term. Seconded by Darren Oestmann. Roll call vote: All ayes, motion carried.
