NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Council Proceedings
May 10, 2010
The Mayor and Council of the City of Auburn, Nemaha County, Nebraska, were called to meet at the City Hall at 1101 “J” Street on May 10, 2010, at 7:00 o’clock P.M., in Regular Meeting, open to the general public.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Robert B. Engles.  Upon roll call, the following members of the City Council were present:  Holtzman, Snyder, Wittmann, Critser, Erickson, and Thomas.   Absent: No one.
Mayor Engles announced that the Open Meetings Act is posted on the North wall of the Chambers by the entrance door.
Council approved the agenda.
Don Wright spoke regarding his future intent to donate his East lot located at 506 11th Street to the City.  He also thanked the City and Street Commissioner Harry Bridgmon for the improved condition of the street.
Mayor Engles proclaimed May 9-15, 2010, as National Police Week and May 15 as Peace Officer’s Memorial Day.
Council approved the minutes of the April 26, 2010, meeting as written.

The Mayor was authorized to sign on behalf of the City of Auburn, the purchase agreement as prepared for the purchase of the South Half of the Northeast Quarter (S ½ NE ¼) of Section Twenty (20), Township Five (5) North, Range Fourteen (14) East, Nemaha County, Nebraska from Mark Harms.
With five Council Members (Holtzman, Snyder, Wittmann, Erickson, and Thomas) voting in favor and one Council Member (Critser) voting in opposition, the Mayor was authorized to sign on behalf of the City of Auburn, the purchase agreement as prepared for the purchase of Lots 106 & 107 in Crestview Addition from Sack Lumber Company.  
With five Council Members (Holtzman, Snyder, Wittmann, Erickson, and Thomas) voting in favor and one Council Member (Critser) voting in opposition, the  City Council approved the design of the new water line for the 2010 Central Avenue Water Main Extension Project located in the area near Central Avenue (Highway 136) and F Street and authorized the advertisement for bids.
The consideration of a drawdown at this time was not warranted or sufficient in amount, therefore a drawdown for CDBG Housing Rehabilitation Project #09-HO-6047 was not presented and action was not taken.  
A disaster declaration was declared for the City of Auburn for Disaster Declaration FEMA 1902 (Severe Storms, Ice Jams and Flooding during March 6 to April 3, 2010) and Robert B. Engles as Mayor and Sherry Heskett as representative or Denise Eggers in her absence were authorized to execute all necessary documents for public assistance.
Discussion was held on whether to keep or sell the Street Department’s old Dresser Loader.
The City Council confirmed the appointment of Mikel Kralik and Melissa Sierks as trustees to the City of Auburn-Board of Public Works Pension Plan & Trust.
Reports were given by department heads from the following areas:  police department, fire department, library, and city services.   A written report was provided showing sales tax receipts.  
The following committees presented reports:  Street, Keep Auburn Beautiful, Budget/Finance, Economic Development, Safety, Building, and Legislative.  A written financial report was provided from the Community Redevelopment Authority.  
There being no further business to come before the Mayor and Council, the City Council adjourned.

Public Notice
The County of Nemaha, Nebraska will receive sealed bids for replacement of roof at the Nemaha County Jail located at 1805 N Street, Auburn Nebraska until 9:00 a.m., June 24, 2010.
Bids must be sent or submitted to the office of the Nemaha County Clerk, 1824 N Street, Ste 201, Auburn NE 68305.  All bids must be enclosed in an envelope and marked on the outside of the envelope:  “Sealed Bid, Roof Repair”.
