Jacquelyn Kelsay Is New Elementary Principal; Two Teacher Resignations Accepted by APS Board of Education

The Auburn Public Schools (APS) Board of Education Monday, March 11, offered a contract to Jacquelyn Kelsay as Calvert Elementary principal beginning with the 2013-2014 school year.

The contract calls for an $85,000 annual salary plus benefits, including health and dental coverage; long term disability insurance coverage and a term life insurance policy. It begins on or about Aug. 1, 2013 and continues to on or about June 30, 2014.
Kelsay will succeed Sharon Pollard, who is retiring at the end of the 2012-2013 school year after 14 years with APS. Kelsay is coming to Auburn from Johnson-Brock Public Schools.
Two resignations effective the end of the 2012-2013 school year were accepted by the APS board.
Eldon Wellman, high school mathematics teacher, is retiring. Anna Hartwig, secondary language arts teacher, is leaving to stay home with her family.
Wellman has taught 22 years at APS and Hartwig has taught at APS five years.
“My future plans include pursuing other interests. Thanks for supporting me during my tenure here,” Wellman said in his resignation letter.
“I have enjoyed teaching the young people of this community immensely. However, I have made the decision to stay at home with my family. I am very appreciative of the time that I spent teaching in Auburn,” Hartwig said in her resignation letter.
