Peru State College’s (PSC) PILOT Club, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will host a Valentine’s Day blood drive in the Live Oak Room of the Student Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. Students, faculty, staff and members of the community are encouraged to participate.
PILOT Club Advisor Peggy Groff said, “What better way to show your love for others this Valentine’s Day than to give blood? Nearly 5 million patients in the United States will need blood transfusions this year – that amounts to 44,000 units of blood each day. Since red blood cells have a shelf life of only 42 days, it’s critical that donors give blood regularly. Please join us this Valentine’s Day in giving the gift of life.”
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 years old with a signed Red Cross parental/guardian consent form where states permit, must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.

Peru State’s PILOT Club (Peru Individual Leaders of Today) provides an opportunity for students to volunteer in service learning projects that benefit others, including agencies that serve those with learning and physical disabilities, retirement and nursing homes, food banks, nonprofit groups and a variety of other service-oriented organizations.
