Serendipity Relocates Next to Hairitage Salon & Day Spa

After more than seven years on the west side of Auburn’s Courthouse Square, Serendipity Gifts and Decor has relocated to the south side of the square. Effective Monday, Jan. 30, Serendipity opened adjacent to Hairitage Salon & Day Spa.

Sue Charbonnet, owner, said that remodeling the building west of the beauty salon took about six to eight months. The remodeling included painting, redoing the floors, and installing new central air conditioning and heat.
“It gives us a different layout. The retail space is about the same. We’re limited more in the storage area. We moved the store so it could be next door to my salon,” Charbonnet said.
Serendipity Gifts and Decor opened in October 2004. Charbonnet described the store as an “eclectic mix of different things.” The top selling item is pursues, she said. Other items include jewelry and baby items. The amount of kitchen and entertaining items has expanded. There was an expansion of the little girls items, Charbonnet said.
“I always wanted to have the building next door to (the salon). It was not available when Serendipity opened. We removed the brick wall between the two stores. Having the businesses next door to each other is more convenient,” Charbonnet said.
Charbonnet is a lifelong Auburn resident. Kim Comstock runs the store. Other employees are Beth Haneline, Dawn Collin and Anjelica Akens.
