City, Village, School Board Incumbents Face Election in 2012

A number of offices from cities, villages, school boards and other governmental entities in Nemaha County will be up for election in 2012.
The offices up for election are listed with incumbents:
Auburn City Council: Chris Erickson, 1st Ward; Frank Critser, 2nd Ward and Mitch Bishop, 3rd Ward. Bishop was appointed in 2011 to replace Dennis Wittmann, who was appointed Nemaha County Commissioner.
Peru Mayor: Lesley Ryan.
Peru City Council: Joe Whisler, East Ward and Judie Douglas, West Ward.
Auburn Public Schools Board of Education: Bob Hemmingsen, Stephen Kennedy and Dr. Mike Zaruba.
Johnson-Brock Public Schools Board of Education: David Bohling, Duane Caspers and Lonnie Neddenriep.
Nemaha Natural Resources District Board, from subdistricts covering Nemaha County: Rob Bohling, Johnson, Subdistrict 6, which covers the far western end of the county; Dr. Mike Speece, Auburn, Subdistrict 7, which covers a large portion of the county and Tom White, Falls City, Subdistrict 9, which covers eastern Nemaha County, including Brownville, Nemaha and Peru and most of Richardson County. The subdistrict boundaries were recently readjusted based on 2010 U.S. Census figures. The subdistricts are required to be divided as equally as possible based on the most recent census.
2nd District Commissioner is the only county office up for election. Dennis Wittmann, incumbent, was appointed to the commissioners in March 2011.
Wednesday, Feb. 15 is incumbent filing deadline. Thursday, March 1 is nonincumbent filing deadline.
If not more than two candidates for each office up for election file by March 1, the offices will not be on the Tuesday, May 15, primary election ballot. All who filed for those offices automatically advance to the Tuesday, Nov. 6, general election.
For village boards, filing deadlines are Sunday, July 15 for incumbents and Wednesday, Aug. 1 for nonincumbents.
Brock Village Board: Delbert Jeanneret and Sam Smith.
Brownville Village Board: Martin Hansen and Paul Fish.
Johnson Village Board: Brian Clark, Scott Pelican and Irene Seeba.
Julian Village Board: Unavailable at press time.
Nemaha Village Board: Karen Huey, Eric Tanner and Don Wamsley.
