Merry B. (Gibbs) Holthus was born in the fall—an appropriate time of year, as she always enjoyed the smells, colors, and festivities of the season. She had fond memories of holidays with her parents, her brothers Jim and Ron, and her sister Linda (Cook). Merry attended school in Auburn. She played basketball and sang in the choir, Triple Trio, and several music contests. She later used her ability to sing in church. Merry was blessed with a son Christopher, a daughter Sarah, and another daughter Hannah (Holthus) Prosser. She impressed her children when she earned an Associates in Early Childhood Education. She maintained a 4.0 GPA while working full time and parenting. Merry had the misfortune of becoming very ill. She battled the disease for over three years. She has been released from her earthly body. Her family surrounded her as she peacefully transitioned. Merry’s wish was that all would come to know the love of Jesus Christ. “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 KJV There will be a memorial service on Sunday, October 11 at 4pm in the 4H building in Auburn, Nebraska. In lieu of cards or flowers, please speak kindly, live gently, and love as well as you can.
