1921-2012
Grady David Quinn 91, of Auburn, Nebraska died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society in Auburn.
Grady was born February 10, 1921 in Waynesville, N.C. He attended school in Waynesville. Grady joined the U.S. Navy on December 7, 1939. He received nine battle stars and was a Pearl Harbor survivor before being honorably discharged December 8, 1945.
Grady married Darlene Bell Barton on October 18, 1944 in Hiawatha, Kansas. He worked for Darling Transfer and Milstead’s Heating and Plumbing, both in Auburn, and was a sheet metal worker in Colorado before moving to Omaha where he worked as a sheet metal worker for 37 years. He enjoyed kids, sports, fishing, and feeding squirrels.
Survivors include his children, sons, Kenny Hager and wife Lana of DeWitt, Neb., Terry Hager and wife Sue of Nebraska City; daughter, Carol Furnas of Brownville; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was Preceded in death by his parents, Furmans and Glee (Chambers) Quinn; wife, Darlene; three brothers; one sister; son-in-law, Lester Furnas.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 28, 2012 at Hall Funeral Chapel, Auburn with Dr. Robert Chitwood officiating.
Burial followed at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Peru. Military rites were provided by Peru V.F.W. Post 7299, American Legion Post #23, and Navy Honor Guard.
