Darlene June Bouwens, daughter of Anthony Bouwens and Anna Mae (Kroeze) Bouwens was born June 2, 1925 in Adams, Neb. She attended school through the 8th grade in Adams. Her family moved to Auburn and Darlene graduated from Auburn High School in 1942.
She was united in marriage to Frank William Brown on January 14, 1945 in Auburn. Two children were born to this union. Darlene worked at Head Start in Auburn for nearly 30 years. She was a life time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Bill passed away in January of 2006, Darlene lived with her daughter Sherrie here in Auburn. It is at their home that on Monday, December 24, 2012 Darlene passed away. She had reached the age of 87 years, six months, and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. Darlene is survived by her son James Brown of Auburn; daughter Sherrie Edstrand of Auburn; grandson Matthew Edstrand and wife Jill of Omaha, Neb.; great-grandchildren Michaela, Sam and Gabriel of Omaha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private family funeral service for Darlene J. Brown was held Dec. 27 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn.
Hall Funeral Chapel of Auburn was in charge of arrangements for Darlene Brown.
