Bette Boellstorff - December 18, 20121940-2012
Bette Frances (Klaasmeyer) Boellstorff, daughter of John H. and Ruby A. (Sargent) Klaasmeyer, was born July 27, 1940 in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Bette started her schooling at country school near Douglas, Nebraska for a couple of years and then attended school at Salem, Nebraska through the 7th grade. She then went to the Brock Public Schools, where she graduated from high school. Bette also attended Peru State College.
On February 21, 1960 Bette was wed to Daniel Boellstorff in the Talmage Christian Church in Talmage, Nebraska. They would be blessed with four children: Leslie, Todd, Tyson, and Carrie. Bette and Daniel made their home on a farm near Brock, Nebraska.
Early in her life Bette was a telephone operator for Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph. She later worked as a hospice caregiver, but her focus was always on her family and working as a partner with Daniel on the farm.
Bette had been a member of the Johnson Woman’s Club and the Heritage Needlework Guild in Nebraska City, and also served on the Johnson-Brock Board of Education from 1978 to 1984. She enjoyed sewing and was knowledgeable on sewing machine history. Bette liked to collect antiques, and her flower gardens bloomed throughout the growing season. She loved to “road trip” and meet people, but once again her primary focus was on family and her grandkids.
After experiencing a period of ill health and then rebounding, Bette was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City on the night of Tuesday, December 18, 2012.
