Lonnie R. Fischer - September 26, 2012

1943-2012
Lonnie R. Feighner, son of Elzia Earl and Bessie May (Kincanon) Feighner, was born December 18, 1943, near Shubert, Neb. One of five children, Lonnie attended the Auburn and Nemaha public schools.
Lonnie entered the U.S. Army on May 29, 1967, and served in Vietnam during the war there, reaching the rank of sergeant. After his honorable discharge on May 28, 1969, he returned to Auburn.
While in the service, Lonnie was united in marriage to Irene Mann on October 14, 1967, in Auburn. They would be blessed with two children, Dellyn and Brandy.
Lonnie worked construction jobs for many years from after his time in high school until he and Irene purchased the Whiskey Run bar in Auburn. They operated that business until 1983, when they purchased the defunct State Theater in Auburn and refurbished and reopened it. They continued this successful venture until Lonnie’s health determined the need to sell the theater.
Lonnie’s love for fishing and camping was shared by his family, and many weekends were spent at campsites in Kansas and at Indian Cave State Park in Nebraska. Even when he was at home, leisure time was spent on the patio with the chimanea burning. He had a great love for family, and spent many hours and days babysitting grandchildren.
While on a fishing excursion with a friend, Lonnie became ill and was transported to the Sabetha Community Center in Sabetha, Kansas. It was there he passed away Wednesday, September 26, at the age of 68 years, nine months and eight days. His father and brother Darrell preceded him in death.
Lonnie is survived by his wife Irene of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law Dellyn and Stacy Feighner of Gretna; daughter Brandy Feighner of Omaha; grandchildren Allie and Reece Feighner, Brody Feighner and Darius Boyd; mother Bessie Feighner of Auburn; brothers and sisters-in-law Lowell and Connie Feighner of Auburn; Dwayne and Judy Feighner of Auburn; sister-in-law Jean and husband Richard Graeff of Valentine; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
