Request for Bids
The Nemaha Natural Resources District is accepting bids for contractual mowing at Kirkman’s Cove, Iron Horse Trail Lake, Wirth Brothers Lake, and Prairie Owl recreation areas. Bids will be for an annually renewable, three-year contract for the 2011-2013 seasons. Performance bond, liability insurance, and workers compensation insurance is required. Pre-bid meeting at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, at the Nemaha NRD office at Tecumseh. For more information or to obtain a bid package, contact the NRD in Tecumseh at (402) 335-3325. Bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011. The NNRD reserves the right to reject or accept any or all bids.

November 22, 2010
The Mayor and Council of the City of Auburn, Nemaha County, Nebraska, were called to meet at the City Hall at 1101 “J” Street on November 22, 2010, at 5:00 o’clock P.M., in Regular Meeting, open to the general public.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Robert B. Engles.  Upon roll call, the following members of the City Council were present:  Holtzman, Snyder, Wittmann, and Thomas.  Absent:  Critser, Erickson.
Mayor Engles announced that the Open Meetings Act is posted on the North wall of the Chambers by the entrance door.
Council approved the agenda as presented.
Council approved the November 5, 2010 and November 8, 2010, meeting’s minutes as written.

George Nelson with the Massman Nelson Reinig auditing firm presented the financial audit for the year ending September 30, 2010 and answered questions.
The Contractual Interest Statement from Frank J. Critser, President of Automotive Diesel Inc. was accepted.
Information was presented on possible options for renewal of the health insurance program with Blue Cross and Blue Shield for Plan Year 2011.   No action was taken.
As per KAB and SENDD recommendations, the City Council approved the contract with Jeff Wiese/North Star Construction Co. for Project 09-AUB-002 associated with CDBG #09-HO-6047 Citywide Housing Rehabilitation Program.
As per KAB and SENDD recommendations, the City Council approved the contract with Jack Hinrichsen/Hinrichsen Construction Co. for Project 09-AUB-006 associated with CDBG #09-HO-6047 Citywide Housing Rehabilitation Program.
City Council approved CDBG #09-HO-6047 Citywide Housing Rehabilitation Program Drawdown No. 7 for project related costs only and the related claims.  
There weren’t any committee reports or updates presented.
A motion was approved by the City Council to go into closed session to discuss the petition on appeal and petition in error of Betty J. England and possible settlement of the cases.  The Mayor restated the limitation of the subject matter of the closed session.  The City Council entered closed session at 5:35 p.m. and reconvened in open session at 5:55 p.m. No action was taken.
There being no further business to come before the Mayor and Council, the City Council adjourned.

The Board of Education of School District #29 of Nemaha County met on December 13, 2010 at the Auburn Public Schools, Central Office for the purpose of conducting the regular board meeting.    Notice of the meeting was duly published in the Auburn Newspapers.
President Beth Kernes Krause called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.  Roll call of members present were: Oestmann, Kennedy, Billesbach and Kernes Krause. Hemmingsen and Zaruba were absent.
Motion by Kennedy and second by Billesbach to approve the consent agenda that includes the minutes of the 11-15-10 regular meeting.  Roll call vote:  Oestmann (yes), Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.
Visitors included: Wayne Chase, David Swanson, and the Administrators.
Motion by Kennedy and second by Oestmann that the Board approve the monthly claims in all funds as presented.  Roll call vote: Oestmann (yes), Kennedy (yes), Billesbach (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes). Motion carried 4-0.

President Beth Kernes Krause adjourned the meeting at 7:23 p.m.
The next regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education will be held on January 17, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Auburn Public Schools Central Office, 1713 J St., Auburn, NE. The agenda for the regular school board meeting shall be kept continuously current and shall be readily available for public inspection at the superintendent’s office during normal business hours.  All items on the board agenda are subject to discussion and/or board action.  The board may enter closed session regarding any item on the agenda, which is permitted by Nebraska Statute.

The Principal’s written report included information regarding the district play producted hosted by Johnson-Brock, course descriptions, and the schedule for semester finals.
In the Superintendent’s Report, Mr. Andreesen reported on the project applications awarded funding by the Johnson-Brock School Foundation.  Mr. Andreesen explained that demonstrations are also being provided by two vendors for the interactive whiteboards which were discussed in the Foundation meeting.  A financial report of the 2010 driver education program was provided, and Mr. Andreesen noted that negotiations with the instructor included a $15 increase per student for 2011.  Discussion was held regarding the proposed calendar for the 2011-2012 school year, and suggestions were made by Board members to start a two or three days later in August and also to eliminate the Fridays off in March for girls and boys state basketball and add two days to the Easter break.  Updated proposals from Tremco for projects which would result in energy savings were distributed.  Mr. Andreesen updated the board regarding the superintendent search.
Moved by David Bohling to set the tuition for the 2011 driver education program at $225.  Seconded by Keith Bohling.  Roll call vote:  All ayes, motion carried.
Moved by Arlen Grotrian to recognize the Johnson-Brock Education Association as the bargaining unit for the teachers’ association.  Seconded by David Bohling.  All ayes, motion carried.
The motion regarding the 2011-2012 calendar was tabled until the January meeting to allow revisions and further discussion.
Moved by Keith Bohling to approve a contract with Tim Newman for the driver education program for 2011 at $150 per student.  Seconded by Arlen Grotrian.  Roll call vote:  All ayes, motion carried.
Moved by Arlen Grotrian to enter into executive session at 7:55 p.m. to protect public interest and prevent the needless injury to the reputation of an individual.  Seconded by David Bohling.  Roll call vote:  All ayes, motion carried.  Joetta Sims was invited to remain in the meeting for the purpose of reviewing applications for the superintendent position.
Moved by Keith Bohling to return to regular session at 9:12 p.m.  Seconded by David Bohling. Roll call vote:  All ayes, motion carried.
Moved by Arlen Grotrian to adjourn the regularly scheduled December Board of Education meeting at 9:13 p.m.  Seconded by Keith Bohling.  Roll call vote:  All ayes, motion carried.
The next meeting of the Johnson-Brock Board of Education will be a special meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010 for the purpose of interviewing candidates for superintendent.  The interviews will be conducted in closed session.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Johnson-Brock Public Schools Board of Education will be January 10, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.
