Brownville Concert Series Will Host Pianist Ivanov July 11 & 13
The Brownville Concert Series and Young Concert Artists, Inc. welcomes back international award-winning concert pianist Gleb Ivanov in concert Sunday, July 11th at 2:00pm in Brownville. The Washington Times described him as “eerily like the ghost of Horowitz...His talent is larger than life.” The concert will be followed by a free master class for all interested area students who bring their music and call for a reservation.
As part of our 20th season celebration, we are “widening the circle” to give our fellow Nebraskans in other venues a delicious taste of Brownville. Thus, Ivanov will also be performing in concert Tuesday, July 13th at 7:30pm in Omaha at The Strauss Performing Arts Center at UNO.
This summer, Ivanov appears as a soloist in two performances with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, performing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto and the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2. His busy schedule includes return engagements at the Louvre Museum in Paris, and in the U.S. with Princeton University, The Paramount Theater (VT), the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (MA), in Pianofest, the festival in East Hampton, NY and to Island Concerts on Fishers Island, NY.
Ivanov won the 2005 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and was also awarded a grant from the Jack Romann Special Artists Fund of YCA. He won critical praise for his debut recitals at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall in New York and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, presented by Young Concert Artists.
Born in Moscow, Ivanov comes from a family of musicians, and he began to accompany his father’s vocal recitals at the age of eight. He graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, studying with V.V. Sedova, N.G. Sooslova, and L.N. Naumov, and works with Nina Svetlanova under full scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music.
