Bill L. Milam, age 83, Falls City, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Falls City. He was born April 3, 1931, at Auburn, to the late Lewis and Mamie (Avey) Milam. Milam married Shirley Majors on March 11, 1956, at Auburn. He graduated from high school at Eudora, Ark. in 1949. Milam enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1953. Following his discharge, he returned to Auburn and the couple established their home in Auburn after they were married. Milam purchased Milam’s Green House in 1963. In 1974 he purchased Simanton and Pence Green House in Falls City, which became Milam’s Green House. In 1978, Milam was instrumental in bringing Little Duffer restaurant to Falls City. He retired in 1999. Milam was a member of Falls City Elks Lodge No. 963; the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion of Falls City, and served on the Falls City Hospital Board. Surviving are his wife, Shirley of Falls City; sons, Steve and Joni Milam, and Max and Michelle Milam, all of Falls City; brothers, Bob and Penny Milam of Chula Vista, Calif., and Jon and Lynne Milam of Stockbridge,Ga.; sisters, Vivian Nordbrock of Auburn, Marcene Sterkel of Fort Collins, Colo. and Shirley Ann Hayes of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren, Staci and Derick Deger of Lincoln, Judd and Jamie Milam, and Jace, Hayley, Hannah and Noah Milam, all of Falls City; and great-grandchildren, Drake and Gage Deger. Milam was preceded by his parents and a brother, Keith. A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City, with the Rev. Rodger Good officiating. Family members will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, 2303 Harlan St., Falls City. Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City, is in charge of arrangements.
