Nemaha Herald

Water tests collected on Monday, August 18, confirmed some very high toxic algae levels have returned to Iron Horse Trail Lake Recreation Area near DuBois. Therefore, the lake continues on “Health Alert Status”, which means all body contact activities including swimming, wading, and water skiing are restricted. Because the Nemaha Natural Resources District is required to keep the lake on Health Alert until they see two consecutive weeks below the 20 ppm limit, the lake will stay on Health Alert until at least September 5. Any high readings between now and then, however, will extend the restrictions. So this does mean the lake will be on Health Alert throughout the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.
