Beware of Telephone Scam Contacting Auburn Area Businesses about Calendar
Early Tuesday morning the offices of the Nemaha County Herald were contacted by a telemarketing representative who stated that he was representing the Auburn High School and selling ad spaces for a school activity calendar.
When questioned specifically about the product the individual made reference to athletic director Kevin Walker, saying he was working directly with the school to put together a special wall calendar for the football and volleyball season.
After listening to the sales spill and being asked for credit card information the newspaper asked the individual to contact them at a later time for a final decision.
After inquiries with the high school principal Kevin Reiman and athletic director Kevin Walker the newspaper arrived at the conclusion that the telephone inquiry was a scam. Mr. Walker assured the newspaper that the school works exclusively with the local “Sport Boosters” organization in regards to athletic calendars.
So do not release credit card information if you or your business is contacted about a new Auburn school activity calendar.
