Alcohol & Speed Likely Contributed to Crash

On Friday, May 28th at approximately 6:30 PM, the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle rollover traffic crash located just east of Auburn on 640 Avenue (East Auburn Bypass). Upon arrival deputies observed an overturned Ford Crown Victoria passenger vehicle with the driver still seat belted inside the vehicle.
The driver — who was the vehicle’s only occupant — was removed from the vehicle and transported to the Nemaha County Hospital by the Auburn Rescue Squad. Crash scene investigation revealed that Roger Scheu, age 50, of Auburn had been traveling southbound on 640 Avenue when his vehicle ran off the roadway into the west ditch where it subsequently rolled numerous times. Both alcohol and excessive speed were determined to have been contributing factors to the crash.
Upon his release from the Nemaha County Jail, where he was cited and jailed for Driving Under the Influence-2nd Offense, Reckless Driving and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
