Auburn School’s Retirees Honored

Auburn Public Schools retirees Janet Kirkendall and Linda Jones were honored Wednesday afternoon, May 19, by the Auburn Education Association during an open house held at the high school media center.

Kirkendall taught 36 years at Auburn Public Schools, eight years at Peru and the rest of the time at Auburn. She taught third grade, fourth grade, and third and fourth grade combined. Family members came to help her celebrate. Kirkendall is a 1971 Auburn High School graduate and her two children are both Auburn graduates.
Superintendent Steve Schneider told Kirkendall to remember the good times and to think of the hundreds of lives she touched. He said that he appreciated her service to Auburn Public Schools.
‘I’ve enjoyed teaching the kids I’ve taught and my colleagues. I appreciate your friendship and support,” Kirkendall said.
Jones served 23 years at Auburn Public Schools as guidance secretary.
