Virginia “Lucille” Teegarden, age 87 of Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City. Virginia Lucille Teegarden, known as Lucille to most, was born on August 31, 1926 in Nebraska City, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Kleineweber) Bassinger. She attended school in Nebraska City and then was united in marriage to Donald Witte in 1946. She later married Howard Teegarden in 1958. Lucille worked at American Meter in Nebraska City for 37 years. She enjoyed gardening and antique shopping, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Judy Lowe and husband Jerry of Mesa, Arizona, and Allen Witte and wife Valerie of Johnson, Neb.; five grandchildren: David Lowe and wife Lisa, Eric Lowe, Bobbi (Witte) Bolley and husband Scott, Kolton Witte and Skylar Witte; five great-grandchildren: Adam Lowe, Sydney Lowe, Jacob Lowe, Micas Bolley and Naomi Bolley; a brother Jim Bassinger and wife Lois of Nebraska City, Neb.; many nieces and nephews, other family and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, with Pastor Catherine Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow the services at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at the mortuary.  Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.Remembrances may be left at www.gudefuneralhomes.com. Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City is in charge of arrangements. Following the services at Wyuka Cemetery, the family invites everyone to a lunch at the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City.
