The new board of directors of the Auburn Senior Center officially had its first meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012.  At that time they elected Frank Critser, chairman; Mary Kruger, vice chairman; Annie Thomas, secretary and Myron Gerdes, treasurer. At-large members are Al Dalbec and Marjie Zimmerman. Cathy Beutler remains Senior Center manager.

The meeting times for the board will be on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 a.m. at the Senior Center.  Most of the board members have assisted the former board and manager at various times, but the actual operating of the Senior Center will be a learning experience for them.  
The costs of operation have increased each year while the financial assistance has decreased. This will be the main focus of the board to be able to keep the Center functioning. Other activities probably need to be expanded, but the board will need that information to come from the public.
The board will welcome your suggestions. Please give any member or the manager your input and you are welcome to come to any board meeting.  The board will probably change its meeting to a more agreeable hour at a later time, but right now with work schedules involved it seemed the best time, according to Kruger.  
She concluded, “remember the Senior Center is there to serve the interest of the seniors in the city and county.  Maybe you are not interested in meals, but there is an activity you would like the board to sponsor, please let the board know.
