Peru State Invites SE Nebraskans to Help Celebrate its 92nd Annual Homecoming Saturday, Sept. 29
Peru State College (PSC) President Dan Hanson is inviting southeast Nebraskans to campus for the college’s 92nd Annual Homecoming celebration, Sea of Blue, Saturday, Sept. 29.
President Hanson said, “Homecoming is an opportunity for us to celebrate the beginning of another successful year and to thank southeast Nebraska for the unwavering support of our institution and our students. We invite all of our friends and neighbors to come to campus, meet our students and staff, and have some fun!”
A Schedule of Day’s Activities
10 a.m.—Parade, Downtown Peru Free and open to the public.
Parade entry forms are available online at www.peru.edu/forms/parade-entry.asp and must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 14. Cash prizes or trophies will be awarded based on those entries which best represent the homecoming theme, though all types of entries are welcome.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—Tailgate and Carnival, Campus Quad—Free and open to the public.
The tailgate will be held on the campus quad near the Library. It will feature burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, caramel apples, cotton candy and more. The PSC Jazz Band will be on hand to entertain the crowd. The carnival will be held on the green in front of T.J. Majors. A variety of activities are planned for young and old alike, including caricatures by renowned cartoonist and PSC alum Paul Fell, face painting, balloon animals, prizes and more.
*In the event of inclement weather, the tailgate will be held in the Student Center and the carnival will be canceled.
Noon—Program, Jindra Fine Arts Patio. A short program will recognize State Senator Lavon Heidemann and his wife, Robyn, for their service to southeast Nebraska. Bill Sapp and Lee Sapp will be honored for their generous contribution to the Oak Bowl Project. Morgan Hall, the newly renovated women’s residence hall, and its adjoining plaza will be dedicated as well.
1 p.m.—Volleyball vs. Culver-Stockton, AWAC. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for non-PSC students. PSC students with a student ID and children seven and younger are admitted free.
2 p.m.—Football vs. Graceland University, Oak Bowl. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for non-PSC students. PSC students with a student ID and children seven and younger are admitted free.
Halftime—Coronation of Homecoming King and Queen, Oak Bowl
