Fastenal and Ariens Team Up to Achieve Efficiencies

Fastenal boasts over 5,000 delivery vehicles, several of which have been making appearances in Auburn. Fastenal has been delivering to the warehouse on east Central Avenue

next to Orscheln Farm and Home to store the equipment they make for Ariens.
Last fall, the Auburn branch of Ariens started a competitive bidding process, which lasted over three months, to decide which company would make hardware for their products. Fastenal stood out from the other companies through the variety of products it offered and its short and long-term capabilities.
Ariens — which creates lawn mowers, snow blowers, and other large equipment — chose to outsource their products’ hardware to reduce waste and time spent on a product.
When Ariens runs low on the hardware produced by Fastenal, they put in an order to the production lines, and the product is shipped to the warehouse, where Fastenal stores the product until it is sold to Ariens.
Although the warehouse is already in use, it is expanding and restocking every day. When the warehouse is complete, it will keep a stock of every product Ariens uses. Fastenal has considered expanding to have a store in Auburn, but that decision will not be made for some time.
The warehouse has already hired one Auburn native and may be hiring more. However, they also brought in two company workers from elsewhere. Fastenal’s warehouse may look for more workers as it grows.
Ariens will be hiring more assembly and fabrication workers this summer as the snow blower and other production lines start coming into Auburn. There will also be openings in leadership roles.
