Jerry Joy of Stella Has Filed As Candidate for Legislative Dist. 1

STELLA —Chairperson of the Village Board and former Peru State College administrator, teacher and football Coach Jerry Joy filed paperwork with the Nebraska Secretary of State to run as a candidate for Legislative Dist. 1.

A graduate of Shubert High School and Peru State College, Joy has had a lifelong commitment to the economic, agricultural, and educational development of Southeast Nebraska.
“I grew up in Southeast Nebraska, and returned in 2006 because I believe in the quality of life Southeast Nebraska provides. My values reflect those of our community: a commitment to hard work, responsibility, and the traditional family life,” he said.
“As I talk with people in Southeast Nebraska, I hear over and over our property taxes are out of control; and there is no plan to bring well-paying jobs and economic development to Southeast Nebraska” Joy said.
While he has contemplated running for this seat again this term, Joy feels he can bring to Lincoln what District 1 citizens want done for their area.
“I’ve traveled Southeast Nebraska for the past four decades recruiting student athletes to Peru State College, leading efforts to bring economic development to our communities and fighting for our way of life. Voters can count on that same determination and energy on behalf of them if I’m elected to the State Legislature” said Joy.
