Optimist Lake Restocked With Rainbow Trout

STEVE WILHELM  (photo above) of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Grove Trout Rearing Station at Royal, in northeast Nebraska, shows some of the 1,400 rainbow trout-Arlee that were released early Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 21, in Optimist Lake adjacent to the Nemaha County Fairgrounds in Auburn.

In the background is Harry Bridgmon of the Auburn Street Department. The fish were 10.25” long. It was the third stocking of 1,400 rainbow trout in the lake this year. On Friday, March 18, rainbow trout-Shasta 10.6” long were stocked. Monday, Oct. 24, rainbow trout-Arlee 10.72” long were stocked.
